Heart And Tone Musicians and people who love music know the recipe for the magic sound when they hear it: Heart and tone. These two soulful ingredients, often an elusive combination, draw listeners into the world of guitarist Tommy Schichtel (Dick Chiclet).
Dick Chiclet cradles one of his many vintage guitars plugged into an old tube amplifier. He may hit one delicious sweet note or unleash a flurry of note clusters that buzz like angry hornets.The end result is predictable: Listeners are moved. Moved by the heart of the guitarist. Moved by the tone of the guitarist. Moved by this genuine sonic expression.
Chiclet has embraced instrumental surf music and garage band guitar/vocal pop with an infectious enthusiasm. The songs may be covers of familiar rock standards or any of his addictive original creations. He gladly shares this love of edgy music with listeners and, they listen. Goon Lagoon, opened in 2006, is Schichtel's analog recording studio.
He patiently assembled vintage recording equipment and host of ancient instruments and amplifiers for his many forthcoming projects. When he is not playing music with, touring or recording his bands, The Concussions, Tobin Sprout, The B-Sides or The FUZZRITES, Schichtel is sought after as a producer and recording engineer.
Schichtel has worked, produced and played with many international musicians like Eddie Angel noted guitarist for Los Straitjackets, Beast In The Field, Larry Taylor bassist for Canned Heat and Tom Waits and Tobin Sprout of Guided By Voices to name a few.
