On The Run b/w Ballad Of A Liar by The Backdoor Society Featuring Paolo "Apollo" Negri (Full EP)

  1. The Backdoor Society was formed in 2017 in Piacenza (Italy), from the ashes of The Rookies, memorable garage band, that from 1994 played pure and authentic 60’s garage rock, having recorded two Lps, 45s and performed numerous gigs in Italy and Europe.

After the split, The Rookies’ singer, guitarist and drummer enlisted a bass player and together set out on a new project. Their music is strongly influenced by the Dutch Beat sound represented by bands like Outsiders and Q65, by whom they were inspired to write their own originals.

If you love Dutch Beat, the wild sixties R&B and the “Stones-like ballads” you can’t help but be impressed by the Backdoor Society!

    about:
Totally analog mastered, both songs were written during the same recording sessions as the band’s first LP, but were left unfinished until Paolo Apollo Negri’s organ gave them the essential Hammond-driven garage-psych element they needed.

“On the Run” is a tribute to the wild British Freakbeat and R’n’B sound, inspired by the Pretty Things and many other underground bands from the UK garage beat scene of the mid Sixties.

“Ballad of a Liar” is a personal homage to The Backdoor Society’s favorite Dutch Beat band, The Outsiders, and their unforgettable frontman Wally Tax. The song is strongly inspired by The Outsiders’ classic “Touch”.

Singles are pressed on 7-inch, 45 rpm vinyl records.
