Tying the melodies together is the silky-smooth saxophone of Bobby Sewerynek, veteran horn player and former big-band sessionist. The backbeat is solidly held down by Brian McCarthy’s growling basslines and Shawn Royal’s unmistakably solid meter and slick groove.
