Track A1 from "Live! At The Cellar" - Emblem USA 1966
In the tradition of other great South Carolina horn bands of The Heeey Baby Days of Beach Music, Soul Inc. from Columbia, was a band meant to be seen live and in person. It's clearly evidenced by listening to their album recorded live at Charlotte, NC's famous night club, The Cellar. Another Soul Inc. cut "Shout Bama Lama" originally written and recorded by the seemingly ubiquitous Otis Redding for Bethlehem Records , and brought to national prominence via Mickey Murray’s potent 1967 version, appears on volume #4 in a wonderfully raw live performance by the Columbia, SC based soul band. The group had formed when a trio of members from The Swingin’ Medallions (saxophonist Freddy Pugh, guitarist Perrin Gleaton, trumpeter Rick Godwin), left in1965 and eventually teamed with lead vocalist Eddie Zomerfield. Play that funky music white boy!!!!!
