Manchester hardcore band Follow Your Dreams are pleased to present their first single, “Maggots”, from their upcoming album “The Half Life of Teaspoons”, recorded and mastered at Kesbri Studios, and brought to you by TNSrecords and 5FeetUnder Records on 13th March.
Maggots is a blistering cacophony of distorted guitars, effects pedals, technical drumming and aggressive vocals, bound to delight fans of punk with a taste for riff-laden, technical hardcore. The lyrics aim their fury at the return of fascism to our streets, via a thinly-veiled zombie metaphor as a homage to the political satire of George A. Romero.
Follow Your Dreams, formed of members of skacore-stalwarts Rising Strike and Manchester punk legend Kaz Hinsley, have been attracting fans from across the UK and European punk scene for their furious live performances, cat-themed merch and DIY ethics. Their music is a fast-paced, technical and restless combination of hardcore, punk and more experimental elements drawn from post-punk, no-wave and riot grrl. It is punk through and through, but with a certain impatience for the clichés and unwritten rules that have defined the genre. The lyrics draw on themes from feminism, critical theory, existentialism and anti-capitalism, expressing a social and political dissatisfaction that animates the dissonance and anger of the music.
