Singles Going Steady was a compilation of Buzzcocks singles complied by the band's US label I.R.S. with the band's permission and released in September 1979. United Artists, who owned the catalogue for the rest of the world, decided to issue it too and pressed it for issue in late 1979.
However, the band objected and it was not released. Irish copies were also pressed and it too seems to have been withdrawn before issue.
The first non-US release was in New Zealand in April 1980 and at least Australia and Japan followed that year, possibly other European territories. However, the UK did not issue it until November 1981.
