JAGA LAWU is an anticipatory movement from the adverse effects of the Geothermal Power Plant (PLTPB) project on Mount Lawu, Karanganyar, Central Java, Indonesia.
The community rejected the trillions worth project because Mount Lawu is a mountain with a million wonders that will not be finished for discussion. Mount Lawu seems to be a symbol of the grandeur and strength of the Java land. And Mount Lawu is a pillar of the sustainability of the ecosystem of various types of living creatures, whether animals, plants and humans.
The people of Karanganyar reject geothermal projects not only afraid of destroying nature. However, they are also worried that if the geothermal project is realized, the water source on Mount Lawu could be threatened. Lawu Mountain has been a 'barrel of water' for eight districts in both Central and East Java.
