Band: Travis Pike & The Brattle Street East (Boston, Massachusetts)
Record: - (Unreleased at the time AAA Recording Studios acetate, appears in the State Records 7” Single “Watch Out Woman / The Way That I Need You” [2017]*)
From OP: The Brattle Street East, (Rob Cavicchio, Jerry Ney, Frank Werner, and Dave Connors) provided the accompaniment, as Travis rocked the Esplanade (and apparently summoned a flotilla of watercraft), but times and attitudes change, and when 70-year-old Travis recorded this song with his brother Adam for their 2014 “Feelin’ Better” CD, he reworked the lyrics and retitled the song to “Things Aren’t Always What They Seem.” In the new version, a concerned (and possibly imperiled), young man, looking out for a young lady (perhaps a neighbor or relative), and pledged to come to her aid if required, tries to warn her to be aware of her potential danger, and adjust her behavior accordingly.
State Records are very pleased to present 2 previously unissued 1966 recordings from Boston legend, Travis Pike. Originally included in the rarely-seen film, "Feelin' Good", these 2 dynamite cuts were rescued from dusty reels and restored by Travis himself. Backed by Oedipus & His Mothers (renamed The Brattle Street East), Travis tears through "Watch Out Woman" like a man possessed, revealing his tender side on the flipside ballad.
Superbly presented in front-laminated flipback card sleeve.
