The Primates were created by three high school friends in Manhattan Beach, California, during the summer of 1983. Originally called The Yahoosians, they played some parties and in the quad at their High School, Mira Costa, and then played their first club show in 1984 at The Rave Up as the re dubbed Melancholy Carrys. After another name change and a new drummer, Brian, The Primates became a fixture of the "Charmkin" Cavern Club Scene off Hollywood Boulevard and recorded an album for Voxx Records. They disbanded in 1987.
