From OP: The Spanish Castle was a very special and unique place. It was a real ballroom, built for the big band music of the thirties. As such, the acoustics were fantastic, unlike most of the teen dance halls which were armories, roller rinks or community centers. The dance floor was springy, which made a dancer feel light on his or her feet. Pat O'Day was so right when he stated that the big night was when the Wailers were playing. No band could fill the old ballroom with sound like the Wailers, and their sound was so clear and crisp. Imagine what it was like to be there in 1961 when the iconic LP was recorded. For those who were there, like my older brother, it was a memory for the ages. "Zig Zag" was a simple, but very danceable instrumental, in a style loved by Wailers' fans.
