about: 'Welcome to Chicagoland' is meant to bring back the way most people discovered punk rock music...affordable comp/samplers with as many songs as we can fit. Think of this release as a Chicago area 'Punk-O-Rama', 'Punk Rock Is Your Friend' or 'Give 'Em The Boot'. All the proceeds from this comp will go to Hope For The Day; a non-profit organization that "achieves proactive suicide prevention by providing outreach and mental health education". CD purchases come in a resealable plastic cover with a four panel, full color jacket and access to the digital version of the album. Friskie Morris & Friends was created by TurboVamps lead singer Stephen DeFalco. To help record his debut solo album he enlisted the help of over 40 musicians from over 30 local Chicago punk bands. The album was released in May of 2013 and the rest is history.
After the 2013 release, Stephen and lead engineer Chris DeQuick started the Friskie Morris Sessions podcast in October of the same year. Since its inception, Friskie Morris Sessions has grown to a weekly, multi-format podcast that features interviews and live performances from bands all over the Chicagoland area and beyond, album reviews and one-on-one interviews with non-band influences in the Chicago punk community.
The podcast's mission is to promote bands and people in the local Chicago punk scene and North America that wouldn't otherwise get promotion. Aside from Friskie Morris & Friends being a podcast and Stephen’s solo musical project, FM&F is also a record label, fundraiser, show promoter, and tour manager for any band who needs help. The podcast is currently in it's fifth year and nearing their 150th episode. The podcast is hosted on Apple Podcasts, iTunes, Soundcloud, The Bad Copy and Stitcher.
