From OP: 1965 would be the year that the Beatles would visit Portland. Amid all of that excitement a new band would emerge that would take the city by storm. With the Kingsmen and Paul Revere & The Raiders on tour constantly, there was an opportunity for a new band to step into the local action. Mr. Lucky & The Gamblers were there at the right time. Even though they never had any national success, they would rule the Portland scene for a few years. Their version of Don & Dewey's "Koko Joe" (written by Sonny Bono in 1958) would keep the Rose City rockin'.
