    Now dig this!
Earlier this year Enviken Records had the pleasure to release the album ”Been Gone Too Long” by Chris Ruest, early on in the recording process Chris mentioned that he wanted to add a vocal rap on one of the tracks.
A vocal rap? I did not know exactly where he was going with this but it sounded pretty cool they way he described it, so we layed down the track here in the studio and then Chris would bring it back home to the U.S to add this vocal rap to it.

Now this would be done by a guy named Wes Race of whom I honestly knew nothing about, but Chris filled me in on Wes story and it was pretty amazing.
It turns out that Wes has been involved and devoted to music (real music) and poetry since the 60’s and with a particular love for the blues, he was a close friend to Hound Dog Taylor and he was key in Alligator Records signing Son Seals.

As I came to know more about Wes I feel very honoured to have him on this very cool track called ”Jivetalk”.

And I also felt that more people should be aware of Wes and his doings, so I reached out to Tom Hyslop, whom himself is devoted to spread the word about good music, wich I believe many artists can vouch for, and asked if he could write a piece on Wes so that I could make a video that hopefully would spread the word about Wes to get him some well deserved recognition.

And Tom kindly agreed to do so and for that I am grateful.

So here it is folks, the Wes Race story (allthough I am pretty sure that there is alot more stories to be told)!
Please do share and spread the word if you dig this!

Heartfelt thanks to Tom for taking the time, Wes for his Jivetalk and thanks to Chris for enlightening me.
Also kudos to Knock-Out Greg whom laid down some great harmonica.

    I’m out.
